How do we get this new version of auctex installed?
I don't want to fool with "make". Do we have to wait for
a new version of aquamacs emacs?
The bug has bitten me again, with a different file,
even after I fixed my font. But I suppressed it, following,
a suggestion from the auctex bug, by enabling file-line-error mode,
by customizing the variable "LaTeX-command". Is there a downside to
this?

Yes, that was my mistake. It's actually 11.85, I just forgot to
check in the tex-site and info files. That's been fixed.
11.85 improves the parsing of compile logs and source files (for
syntax highlighting). It also comes with a special Japanese LaTeX
mode.
