Since the information in this thread is distributed over several messages and several parts are only in my private mailbox, I suggest that you file a new bug report 1. using M-x TeX-submit-bug-report RET from the problematic document 2. containing the sample file 3. containing the error messages / log output 4. containing the generated preview.gs which causes the gs error Especially using `TeX-submit-bug-report' ensures that your configurations which may or may not have an effect are included in the report.
