Hi,

I was trying to install fltk 1.1.6 on a linux slackware9.1 box. This png
library is interfering with almost every package with GUI. When I stick to
the original packages on the distro it's ok, but as soon as I install
(compile) something new...problems.

checking png.h presence... yes
configure: WARNING: png.h: present but cannot be compiled
configure: WARNING: png.h: check for missing prerequisite headers?
configure: WARNING: png.h: proceeding with the preprocessor's result
configure: WARNING: ## ------------------------------------ ##
configure: WARNING: ## Report this to [EMAIL PROTECTED] ##
configure: WARNING: ## ------------------------------------ ##
checking for png.h... yes

I hope this might be of help to you experts.

PS.: I have been thinking that the complexity of the software is just too much
for the too old C or C++ language. I am sure that with 10% of the C coding
effort in another more up to date language (like today's pascal e.g.) the
work will be done quicker without giving in any power.
Still I am astonished about the energy and results the "non microsoft people"
achieve in spite of this difficulty.

Thanks
Sincerely,
Ca
