a C program with #include <ctl.h> was successfully compiled, but the
preprocessor alone choked on this directive. This sounds weird.
Look at the generated config.log to see what exactly failed.
Perhaps the authors of the package you tried to compile might have
some experience which would help you.
Perhaps other people on bug-autoconf will send you a better answer later...
