all four failures had the same cause: your system contains a Fortran compiler, ifc, but the binaries created by it cannot be run, because your system lacks a shared library: > | ./a.out: error while loading shared libraries: libcxa.so.5: cannot open > shared object file: No such file or directory > I followed the instructions given on the following link: > http://www.linuxfromscratch.org/lfs/view/6.1/chapter06/autoconf.html How it comes you have this instalation? Did you meant to install Fortran compiler? Or was it a byproduct of something else? I guess the people from Linux From Scratch could help you to find answers. And if you ask them about this, it'll give them an opprtunity to improve their manual, so please contact them. Have a nice day, Stepan Kasal
