It's not a problem for Cygwin since their philosophy, I guess, is that
you Should Just Upgrade.

Solaris 2.5.1 is more of an issue.  Its official end of service life
was 2005-09-22, and since Sun no longer has standard support contracts
for it then one could well argue we shouldn't have to worry about
2.5.1 either, and this is the attitude I take for other GNU projects I
maintain.  However, I suppose Autoconf has to be a bit more
conservative, since some of our users are more conservative.
