I think we should break the patch to individual parts, and apply each one after a review. I think it will be more readable to generate them relatively to the previous state of the CVS. So, to have a ``clean base'' in CVS, I took the liberty to back out Paul's original patch for now. I will break the patch into the ``individual parts'' and add my comments tomorrow.
