FWIW, I disagree. There is still a small but significant user base that uses Autoconf-2.13; GCC is still in the process of moving to 2.59. Let's revisit this issue once 2 GCC *releases* have happened that do not employ 2.13 any more, please. If we care about having less backward compatibility code in Autoconf, then we simply need to be more cautious in adding problematic code. Cheers, Ralf
