I meant to ask: is there a planned schedule for getting rid of the "mongrel" double check that AC_CHECK_HEADER[S] does if you don't supply a fourth argument? It seems to me that there has been quite some time since it was introduced, and nowadays it's growing quite rare to find a header that doesn't include all its dependencies itself, so the need for special care is also rare.
