I was able to reproduce the issue on the Compile Farm.
With fresh eyes, the fix is quite simple and low risk. Fix committed as

31eb3a33].
With this commit and the previous (addressing sr #111380) I now see zero
unexpected testsuite failures on the Compile Farm's Solaris 10 machine. I
would appreciate a retest on your machine, Paul, before I close this out.
