Well, are the derived sources portable, i.e., not depending on the system on which they are created? Is it useful to be able to build a package tarball without having Vala installed? Also, do the derived sources vary heavily (and incompatibly) between Vala versions they were created from, to the extent that it is not useful to set a fixed Vala version by the package creator? Automake ships derived sources for tools that are not expected to be installed on the system used for compiling from a tarball. The question boils down to whether this is a desirable and/or viable goal. Thanks, Ralf
