I do not know actually. My Aunt served her GI with cheese omelettes (after giving up her German husband and the black Porsche 911 Targa), but that was over fourty years ago, well within the Carter era. Long divorced anyhow -- could the breakfast have played a role. (It clearly was not an Italian restaurant!)
