Nonsense. Create a string in another application and use your
operating system's copy and paste facilities.
I just knocked up a quick php script to confirm that things work the
way I think they do:

This style of input does work with the regex tester, though you have
to consult the page source to verify that the tabs were not eaten
since HTML collapses whitespace when rendering. It seems like cfengine
variables like ${tab} are not interpolated; you need to use literal
input.
Mark: I would recommend using PRE tags in the regex tester output to
increase clarity.
