fold -s leaves shameful wasted blanks at end of lines:

Therefore there needs to be another switch to do away with them.
Or you could do away with them unilaterally if it won't break users
programs. Then there's
$ perl -le 'print "a". " " x 100 ."b"'|fold -s
and on and on. Uh oh... looks complex. See you later.
