Yes , indeed . > > > What do you think about ? Is that indeed a bug ? > > It's not easy to say. I can't easily reproduce the bug, since I don't > have the faulty device that you have. I have dozens of faulty diskettes , so I can snail- mail some to you. I will also apreciate if someone else on this list will try with some faulty disks ( floppy or maybe hard ) , and tell us their experiences . The exact details will vary from diskettes to diskettes , and will depend on the chosen block size , however the general pattern will remain the same . > > Can you find out exactly in the source code where 'dd' is going wrong, > and come up with a patch to fix it? > Sorry , this is not possible , since I am not a programmer. But I am now almost sure something is wrong in GNU dd , because I ' ve tried the dd that comes with FreeBSD . It worked well . The hardware was the same . And I think there is not much room for differences between various implementations of dd Thanks , Adrian Buciuman _______________________________________________ Bug-coreutils mailing list [EMAIL PROTECTED] http://mail.gnu.org/mailman/listinfo/bug-coreutils
