That fix is part of the test release, coreutils-5.1.0, http://fetish.sf.net/coreutils-5.1.0.tar.gz http://fetish.sf.net/coreutils-5.1.0.tar.bz2 That bug was discussed on the mailing list, and was mentioned in the NEWS for the 5.1.0 announcement. The tarballs are still not on GNU systems. Note however, that there are a couple of known bugs (64-bit related) with 5.1.0, so you might want to wait a couple days for coreutils-5.1.1.
