Ok, for me the option name is the least important thing: I'm going to make an alias to "ls
-oh --color=tty --group-dirs" in any case ;)))
So, you coreutils developers should just converge me on a suitable name and I'll use it in
my patch (which in any case I don't pretend to be applied verbatim ;)).
And if that is still to long,
maybe a new keyword for --sort would do.
Eric has proposed not to use this approach but rather create a new option.
