Given the overall level of activity on the coreutils project, I'm slightly surprised there have been no suggestions for Summer of Code projects relating to it (see http://www.gnu.org/software/soc-projects/guidelines.html).
Is it just that there are no sizable standalone tasks that a student could feasibly complete in a couple of months, or is there some other reason?
