This is all very confusing, I'm afraid. I am not sure what works and what does not. Let's put it this way. I'd like a story that sounds like this: CVS coreutils + CVS gnulib does not work on my platform. When I do "configure; make", the "make" fails with the following symptoms. This is because "configure" sets up include files in such-and-such a way, and the standard include files work in such-and-such a way, and the C compiler has such-and-such properties. However, if I apply the enclosed patch before running "configure", then things work fine.
