I had (should still have, if I can find it) an 'unprintf' that I'd like to offer also, if you are interested. Basically it is meant to take binary data and convert it to a reasonably-compact C format char[] of the same, i.e. something that can be fed to 'printf' (or a CPP) to get back the original input.
(I really hope this goes through! ...is there a reason gmane.linux.utilities.util-linux-ng is read only? :-( )
