Greetings.

According to the documentation for tr in coreutils 6.9, characters can be 
specified as \NNN, where NNN is 1 to 3 octal digits.  However, three octal 
digits are not enough to represent many (sometimes non-printable) Unicode 
characters.  Please update tr to take characters of the form \UNNNNNN, 
where NNNNNN is 4 to 6 hexadecimal digits.
