Thanks for the report. However, this is turning into a FAQ; see debbugs.gnu.org/14388 for the last discussion on the issue (we are accurately returning what the kernel sticks in the struct used by the uname(2) syscall; changing things would require a kernel change and not something we can effect here; about the best we could do is a doc update to make it clear that we really return whatever random strings the kernel tells us even if those strings aren't "release" and "version" in the sense you are expecting). -- Eric Blake eblake redhat com +1-919-301-3266 Libvirt virtualization library http://libvirt.org
