Yes it is -- we do nightly testing on AIX 4.3.

It looks to me like your header files are not compatible with your GCC
installation -- either you neglected to run fixincludes when you
installed GCC or GCC doesn't really support AIX 4.3. Try using the
native C compiler instead.
