Cool beans.

What about the root cause that exposed this, unable to detect necessary
libraries at configure time.  I ended up having to do:

LIBS="-lnsl -lsocket" ./configure 

Though it looked like there is code in configure to check those libs out.
(Then again, they love to muck up the output of uname here, so I wasn't too
surprised that things failed.)  Should I spend time checking that out or 
just wait until next release?

Also, will next release be another internim release (1.10.9), minor (1.11)
or major (2.0)?
