There's a test script in the 'src' directory of a standard CVS distribution named
'sanity.sh'. It's the same one that gets run when you type 'make check'. Basically,
I asked for a Bourne shell (/bin/sh) script which reproduces your problem. That's
most appreciable when it comes as a patch which can be applied to the sanity.sh script
- then it can be left there as a regression test after the problem is fixed.
