If I remember correctly it's already the second released version of CVS
with broken pserver. The first was 1.10.6. Perhaps the testsuite should be
changed so that the "pserver" tests are run regardless of whether "-r"
(remote) is given.

The tests should also be enforced to catch the bugs in the problematic
releases as well as security issues (i.e. limiting read and write access).

$ egrep '(readers|writers)' sanity.sh | wc -l
      0

This is not good. There is nothing really bad in making errors. Not
learning from errors is much worse.
