I did already try every patch I could find before sending to the list (there were quite a few revisions), and they all failed to apply. I even tried patching 1.11.6 but it still failed as well.

The initial patch I made was for the stable series, i think. You could try and find that and see if it works but it was a long time ago. It must be in the archives for this list somewhere.
