I submitted this patch a few weeks ago to the bug-cvs mailing list
(http://lists.gnu.org/archive/html/bug-cvs/2006-02/msg00033.html), but it
hasn't yet been committed and I haven't received any information about
problems with the patch. So I'm putting this here so it doesn't get lost.
If there's anything that needs to be improved with this patch please let me
know.
