These are standard. Good. Then you know the right thing to get for 99.9% of users. > But what is feature? http://ximbiot.com/cvs/wiki/index.php?title=CVS_FAQ What are the differences between CVS version 1.11.x and 1.12.x? > Should I be using feature? That depends on your needs. You may wish to consider it as a pre-beta release. (Sort of like what gcc 2.9x was for so many years before gcc 3.x was finally released.) The code is works reasonably well on recent vintages of GNU/Linux, FreeBSD, NetBSD, MacOS X, and Solaris (those are the ones I have tested). It might also work on your clients and servers, but it may not. You should be certain to use the 'make check' after you build from sources to see if it passes all of the regression tests. If it does, then you are probably safe. If not, then I suggest you do not consider using that release. STABLE CVS clients may be used with FEATURE CVS servers without any problems. The reverse should also be true. Please do report any bugs you notice if you believe you have run into a problem. > Is it unstable? Many folks are using it, but it may have problems on some platforms. It would be better for you to read the various FAQ files for CVS and the NEWS file for CVS (go and browse the sources on savannah.nongnu.org) or download the sources and take a look at it. > These questions should be answered on the nongnu.org/cvs page. That is probably a good idea, but I don't know when it will be updated. The STABLE release of CVS is what most users probably want to choose. The FEATURE release contains new features that may not work on all servers supported by STABLE. -- Mark -----BEGIN PGP SIGNATURE----- Version: GnuPG v1.4.4 (FreeBSD) iD8DBQFFWftDCg7APGsDnFERAnguAJwKS4isrW3N2BSaETNwnnge2uDX4ACg5n1K 28+jofVkOhpWIxP3tWis1NA= =9ijm -----END PGP SIGNATURE----- _______________________________________________ Bug-cvs mailing list [email protected] http://lists.nongnu.org/mailman/listinfo/bug-cvs
