Yes, there is a chance. I have updated the bug with patches to the
latest cvs 1.11.x and cvs 1.12.x branches. I have no way to test a
GSSAPI configuration at present. If you can verify that my adaptation
to your patch works on 1.12.x, I can commit it directly as I hear you
have no problems.

For the 1.11.x, if the patch works, I will need to have my fellow CVS
developers agree it is STABLE enough to add this minor enhancement for
interoperability reasons with servers that would support the GSSAPI-U
request.

Note that if it is adopted, then we will need to see if the GSSAPI-U
request can also be supported by the cvsnt.org folks.
