I am currently running Hardy Heron, Ubuntu 8.04, on my HP Laptop. I am trying
to recover picture files off of a SD media card that has a port directly into
my computer.

I've been attempting to use different recovery programs but have been
unsuccessful at getting any to work correctly. I discovered ddrescue and have
been trying to use it for a couple days now but have found instructions that
have worked properly. Is there anyway you could tell me step by step how to
use your program.

Gnu ddrescue will image a device, which is the first step in recovering lost
files from a failed device.

If you have deleted your files or otherwise lost them without the media card
nor the card reader being damaged, then ddrescue is not strictly needed.

What happened to your files?
