Burkart, the lof file was written by ddrescue. ddrescue died with the message that the input file is unavailable. The Disk I'm trying to rescue is connected via USB and stop responding.

I've never had ddrescue alone create an erroneous log file. Regardless of how it came about, personally I wouldn't put too much faith in the rescued data if the log file was corrupted and I didn't know why.
