Incidentally, is it safe to resume rescuing with a newer version of ddrescue (I started with 1.16)?
Yes. The logfile format has not changed since version 1.6.
Also, do you have any advice about my situation? My SSD is connected via this SATA-to-USB cable<http://www.startech.com/HDD/Adapters/USB-3-to-SATA-or-IDE-Hard-Drive-Adapter-Converter~USB3SSATAIDE>, and I'm having to manually yank the power every two minutes (because it hangs and this is the only way I can read from the drive again - merely removing the usb cable isn't enough). This is rather tedious - especially since the average rate has dropped to about 3 - 5 KBps, and I still have 43 GB to go. :(
The SATA-to-USB adapter may be the problem. See for example this message: http://lists.gnu.org/archive/html/bug-ddrescue/2013-03/msg00034.html
Thanks for making such an amazing piece of software. It truly is a service to humanity. It is the major reason I have developed a keen interest in Linux. :)
My pleasure. :-) Best regards, Antonio. _______________________________________________ Bug-ddrescue mailing list [email protected] https://lists.gnu.org/mailman/listinfo/bug-ddrescue
