Karl, as I understood the desired behaviour (and it has some basis
in POSIX), "-l" should be the default. There shall be no "-l" option,
ed(1) should always behave this way, detecting terminal input
with isatty() if needed.

GNU ed 0.1 was like this and it was changed in the 0.2 release.
