I am running Red Hat Linux 6.1, and I recently noticed a strange
phenomenon. When I copy, or edit, a file, the correct time gets
stamped on it (as I see by using stat). Also, my clock is correct.
But when I `ls' a file, whether with -l or -lu or -lc , the time
indicated is 5 hours later! (In my case, since I'm in the Eastern
US, this means Greenwich Mean Time.)

Why should this be? And how can I fix it? I don't know much about
Linux, or Unix in general, and so I would be reluctant to call it
a `bug,' except that I've asked a couple of experts, one of whom
sent the question to a list, and no one has been able to come up
with an answer.

Could you tell me if this is a known bug?
