Hello,
I have made a shared library from many of the fileutils by moving
the code and changing things slightly. Most changes relate to the error
handling and parameter parsing.
I am hoping that my fileutils changes may one day get to be part of the
main distro and would be willing to devote time to make changes that are
required for this to happen.
A tarball of my changes is available at

I realize that there is more testing required to ensure that I didn't
break anything, but am trying to see if I can merge this into the main
dsitro before devoting the time to test my changes more.
