ls --color

Hello,

I have copied the DIR_COLORS file into a file called .dir_colors in my
account.
I am running on Linux (csh) and when I modify colors in .dir_colors
and type ls --color it still executes the /etc/DIR_COLORS default file.
how can I make it use the .dir_colors file?
