Ew, For hpux 11 you should either use the native HP ANSI C compiler or GCC version 3.2. Older GCC versions don't work very well and I have had problems. On hpux 10 gcc 2.9x has worked well. I personally use the native ANSI compiler but I realize that is an additional install.
