Follow-up Comment #1, bug #18573 (project findutils):

This does not seem like a findutils bug, but a misunderstanding on your part
on how to properly quote arguments so that the \ is preserved and passed into
xargs.

P.S. How up-to-date is the gnuwin32 version?  You may want to consider using
the cygwin version instead, which is probably more current.  Also, the cygwin
version lets you use either \ or / as a path separator, but it is much easier
using / since it doesn't get confused with a character quotation device.
