First of all, thanks very much for offering to help! We really appreciate it. I'm not sure how to guide you yet though, for example you didn't indicate which languages you're familiar with (C, shell, Tcl?). However, an easy way to get started is probably to pick a bug from the bug list (https://savannah.gnu.org/bugs/?group=findutils) and work on it a bit. (I try to mark any I'm working on right now with "In Progress"). James.
