Also can you give a game score, or detailed example of the problem. From the description, if you mean the Apple Chess bundled with Mac OS X, it was based on an old fork of GNU Chess long unsupported by GNU developers, and you'd have to raise the issue with Apple, although I've not seen the issue you describe.
