Not sure if you mean to allow multiple 'paths' in one game - like
chessmaster if you've seen that (or some go programs - not sure if
snowie lets you do this).

Contrary to chess, branches many moves deep don't make much sense in backgammon IMHO. On the other hand, adding a list of variants to an analyzed position (different score, or some checkers shifted to change the pipcount for instance) may be nice.
