Hi Hardy, I'm sorry to hear that the 0.16 version crashes for you. Could you please describe when and how it crashes and tell us if you are using the threaded version?
To downgrade just rename the gnubg directory located under Program Files to something else and install a fresh copy of 0.15. If that doesn't work your links must be pointing to a third copy of GNU backgammon.
