Some more thoughts: I believe Trice's figures are for one playet having at least one piece on the board, but inclues the opponent having all 15 pieces borne off, at which point it's not a game position, as the game is over. (or you count all game over positions as one position).
So you need to remove one count for all the possible distributions with 1 or more pieces on the 24 ponts of the board. A harder one to analyse are the situations with large counts of pices on the bar for both players.
