Hi Stacey,

It can be a bit awkward; I often have trouble, myself. You may be trying to
place chequers at the wrong end of the bar.

Chequers go on the bar about 1/3 of the way up on the side they enter, i.e.
away from the player who owns them.

Ctrl drag should work.
Left-click to place the bottom player's chequers, on the top portion of the bar.
Right-click to place the top player's chequers, on the bottom portion of the
bar.

I hope this helps. Email me if you still have trouble.

To developers:
Could this be improved to make it easier to use? Suggestions:
Dragging should acceptable over the whole length of the bar.
As should left- or right-clicking.

The intent of the user is unambiguous, so gnubg should handle it, and the
position the chequers where it wants them.

Regards,
Ian

Subject: [Bug-gnubg] Moving Checker to Bar in Edit Mode

I apologize if this has been answered but my searches on the subject have been
fruitless so far.

When setting up a position for analysis in Edit Mode, I am able to position
checkers anywhere except the bar. I've tried left/right clicking on the bar
and also used Ctrl with drag/drop with the following results:
Left click: nothing
Right click: box comes up offering either Undo Move or Score Sheet
Ctrl drag/drop: I can drag the checker to the bar but when I release, it
doesn't stay - it simply returns to the original position

Gnu version: Version GNU Backgammon 0.90-mingw 20121023
OS: Win 7 Home Premium SP1 64-bit
Dell XPS 8500
Intel i7-3770

Thanks for your help,
