Bots do get on hot streaks quite a bit. If it gets annoying just make it reroll until it gets something that doesn't win the game (regardless of whether if it's a double or another especially good roll). GNUBG won't take offense (I THINK), the game will be both more enjoyable and educational, and your blood pressure will stay where it belongs.
Once you get used to doing that, you can be magnanimous and change a few of your own killer rolls if you'd rather make the game more interesting. And take a look at some of the other options. There's absolutely no reason to feel obligated to play the bot exactly as you would a person. Feel free to get hints and even reroll if you get something truly suicidal. Don't overdo it though - you still want practice getting out of tight spots.
