Hi Isaac and Aaron, Thank you! This is a really good feature that I've been wanting for a long time. I hope there will be a Windows executable at some point.
The Score map is a step above what Snowie used to have; buttons for $, DMP, GS, GG. As for the layout, I think for the Move comparison, the natural shape of the table means that the options will fit better when presented below the table, as you have on page 2. Then it makes sense for the Doubling window to follow the same layout. I have a small preference for 'Vertical 1' over 'Vertical 2'. I would eliminate the options for 'True Score' and 'Away Score'. Anybody serious enough to study in this detail is going to be thinking in 'Away' terms, so just use that. The Jacoby could be a simple on/off tick box to save room. On the cube action table, it's not clear to me what the use of upper and lower case letters mean (d/T D/T) etc. In any case, they seem to add not much more than the colour code already gives you. How about replacing them with the equity in millipoints? E.g. a D/T might be 985, a D/P a 1023. This would be similar to the 'show equities' option in the Temperature Map feature. The colour coding is a great idea. Perhaps Too Good should be another colour to distinguish it from the normal No Double; Gold for Too Good/Pass and Purple for Too Good/Pass. It would be useful for the actual score of the match being analysed to be highlighted in the grid, perhaps with a bold black border. In the moves list, it would probably be useful to add a symbol such as ยง if the correct score based-move differs from money play. Will this feature be something that's included as an option in the 'Analyse match' settings? Obviously, it would extend the analysis time by a lot to analyse all moves at all scores, so an option to select just the comparison of the current match score vs money might be good. I hope you find some of these suggestions useful. We hope you will enjoy them. We both find ourselves often wondering how much of the GNUBG eval is due to the score. Instead of repeatedly copy-pasting positions and editing them at various scores, we thought we could automate the process. So we coded new buttons for gnubg: - Feature 1: the Money Eval button for cube decisions, which quickly provides an eval for the current position at money play. - Features 2 & 3: the Score Map button for cube & move decisions, which show a color-coded map of all the cube decisions or best moves at different scores. Enjoy! Aaron Tikuisis & Isaac Keslassy
