Hi mps,

Gnubg does have a database. See the Settings, Options menu. I don’t use it
personally so I can ‘t help you much with it.

On the Setting, Game tab you will need to:

  *   Start new games immediately
  *   Roll the dice automatically
  * Disable End Game asks conformation

On Display tab set:

  * Animation none to save time sliding pieces around.
  * Try turning off Display Computer moves

On Other tab:

  * Turn off Confirm when aborting game
  *   Set Record all games
  *   Set Auto save analysis

On the New menu:

  * You will need Modify Player settings… to set both users to gnubg at
whatever strength you want.
  *   Turn off Manual dice
  * Set match length 0 (for unlimited games)

There is no natural way to just run a set number of games so you will have to
press the Stop button. [cid:[email protected]]

The only way to play a set number of games would be to do a rollout from the
start position, but I don’t think there is a way to record each game.

If you want to get into Python there are probably more things you can do, but
that’s getting outside my area of expertise. You could search the mailing list
archive for other discussions.

I hope this helps, even if it’s not a complete answer.

Good luck,

Ian Shaw

is there a way to have gnu play itself for a few hundred games and store the
results in a database or something? i'm interested in the number of hits per
game. there doesn't appear to be a forum dedicated to gnubg.
