Flash memory can handle about 10k (low cost) up to 10 million write
cycles and i doubt that you'r iPod broke because you reached this limit:
If your Flash memory gets bad, it will start to return IO/Errors if you
try to write to the bad sectors.. but the iPod itself should still work.
Anyway.. i'll add a note about the 'sync' option.
