I tried to build gnustep from tar.gz archives found on the ftp site. I
followed the instructions from the
german version of the gnustep howto but used "make rpm" to build rpm files.
I build the following packets:

ffcall-1.8d.tar.gz
gnustep-objc-1.2.0.tar.gz
gnustep-base-1.1.0.tar.gz
gnustep-gui-0.7.5.tar.gz
gnustep-xgps-0.7.5.tar.gz
gnustep-guile-1.0.3.tar.gz
jigs-1.5.4.tar.gz
gnustep-make-1.2.1.tar.gz

This worked very good except for the jigs wrapper packages. The rpm build
fails because it wants to install to
/opt/GNUstep instead of
/var/tmp/gnustep-base-java-wrapper-root/opt/GNUstep.

This is only happening if I build my rpms with none root priviliges,
because otherwise it can write to
/opt/GNUstep.

Regards,
Jan
